Changing on 1 October 2026
Right to Work checks stop being only about employees
From 1 October 2026 the Right to Work Scheme extends to people working under a worker's contract, individual sub-contractors, and online matching services. If you use casual staff, sub-contract to named individuals, or run a platform that matches people to customers, it probably reaches you. It is not retrospective, and there is a statutory test you can apply yourself.
