The three differ in ways that matter. The sponsored-worker letter carries the immigration conditions and the rule that the sponsor — not the worker — must pay the Certificate of Sponsorship fee and the Immigration Skills Charge. The hourly and casual letter carries National Minimum Wage, variable hours, breaks and the 12.07% holiday accrual method. Sending a permanent-hire letter to either of those people leaves the terms they actually need unsaid.
A note on the Right to Work checklist
It covers all three routes — the Home Office online share-code check, a manual document check, and an IDVT check through a certified provider — because the person's status decides which one applies and you cannot choose for convenience. Anyone whose status is digital must be checked online. Both are explained in the guide to Right to Work checks, and from 1 October 2026 the range of people you need to check for widens — see what changes in October 2026.
